Soviet Union - 17th century postman
This stamp issued by the Soviet Union depicts a horse pulling a sled with a postman in the background. Postal service was established in Russia during the 17th century. Only strong, resilient men were recruited for service as postmen. They used many means to get the mail between destinations, including horses.
