Poland -10th Anniversary of the Polish Arctic Station

 stamp from Poland depicts Leopard seals sitting on the ice in front of the ship "Kapitan Ledóchowski"
 .  
The "Kapitan Ledóchowski"
 was built in 1975 the New Szczecin Shipyard as a general cargo ship.  The leopard seal is the second largest species of seal in the Antarctic (after the southern elephant seal). The seals are typically 8 to 12 ft long and weigh in at 450 to 1300 pounds.  The stamp was issued as part of a set of 6 stamps commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Polish arctic research base "Henryk Arctowski" on King George Island.
